Suffering with acne skin care may at first seem awful for most of us that take pride in the way we look. But in today’s world this is a skin condition that can be treated. This complaint that affects many people around the world has engendered fiercely competitive scientific research to find a cure; as a consequence, many of these new treatments are very affective. The acne skin care products available fall into these:
1.Those that help prevent the condition
2. Over-the-counter
3. Prescription: Doctor and/or Dermatologist, prescribes an ointment or specialist cream
The class of skin care products designed to fight acne and also used as a preventative measure include make-up removers, cleansers and other like-minded products. These products are used everyday by a lot of people whether they suffer from acne or not.
More specialized cleaners are designed in the same way as acne skin care products; they clean out the pores to help stop sebum or oil which clogs up the pores. Products like this work by minimizing the amount of oil that stays in the pores which can assist harmful bacteria growth which can lead to acne skin issues.
General skin care treatments also include special exfoliation products like skin peels. These are effective because they remove dead skin cells and all surface pollution which can cause the pores to get blocked.

You can also find acne skin care products that are specialized and available over-the-counter, they do not require the need of a prescription. Skin care products have been formulated to minimize or reduce the excess oil in the skin that certain bacteria live on and results in acne skin conditions. The active ingredient in these products are salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide which treat the existing bacterium.
Generally it is best to start using this type of product with only a small amount of benzoyl peroxide; in fact no more than 5.5 percent is recommended just to see how the skin reacts. The working alternatives to this involve using products that have the substance alpha hydroxy acid in them. It is not always possible to find an acne skin care product that works first time. You may need to try a few but if none of them seem to be working then you would be advised to contact your skin specialist.
One of the benefits of consulting your dermatologist or doctor is that they can prescribe you with a prescription for specialized treatments, for example a course of antibiotics. In some case your doctor may suggest the pustules are drained of harmful contents under local anesthetic, this is a minor procedure which if carried out by yourself could result in skin damage.
Wrapping It Up
Hormone therapy is an alternative that has been shown to be effective. In many cases studies would indicate that hormone based skin care treatments are effective since in some cases hormones can cause acne. Dealing and solving this skin complaint is not the issue it used to be, there are now a large selection of acne products specifically formulated to deal with this. This means that an acne sufferer does not have to put up with this condition unless they choose to.
