If you are thinking seriously about using one of the many acne treatment products currently on the market, you no doubt want to be able to choose the one that will work best for you. In order to do that successfully you will need to inform yourself about just what products are available and what other treatment options could work for you, whether they are done from the home or by the dermatologist.
Getting Started
The first step is for you to learn about the different acne treatment product options that are out there today. Biore is a popular name in the world of acne, and for good reason. All the Biore products are very effective, and not only that but fast acting as well.
One of their most popular products was the Biore Pore Unclogging Scrub which is a daily scrub that helps to keep your skin ultra clean and super clear. You can use it both morning and night, and it will not only remove all of your makeup and keep your pores clean, but as well it will help to prevent future breakouts.
Another acne treatment product that has proven to be very effective is DermaClear. This is a very unique acne treatment product, one that will clean, clear and rejuvenate your skin in less than a week’s time. Even if you have severe acne you will notice improvement, and when used as directed, this product will definitely live up to its claims.
One acne treatment product that works on specific blemishes is Clinique Acne Solutions Emergency Gel Lotion. Even if you have sensitive skin and blemishes that keep coming back, this product can eliminate such frustrating problems. It balances the amount of oil in your pores and cleans them thoroughly. This product, called a spot treatment, is applied to specific problem areas on the face in order to get rid of blemishes.
Some Helpful Suggestions
Since everyone’s skin is different, an acne treatment product that works wonders for one person may very well be useless for another individual. Your goal should be to identify which products work for you.
Talking with a dermatologist about your acne and other skin conditions is the best way to ensure that your choice of acne treatment products is right for your individual needs.

Proactiv solution was developed eight years ago by 2 Stanford trained dermatologists to help people suffering from acne. It has now become the number one selling topical acne product available in America.
In three easy steps, your current skin blemishes heal and new ones stopped forming with Proactiv Solution.
So what is so revolutionary about this acne solution?
It consists of a combination acne management system that uses prescription grade ingredients that heal but also prevent new acne in the same process. 1. Renewing Cleanser – This oil free formul contains smooth tiny grains which gently exfoliate dead skin cells and other impurities and contains prescription grade benzoyl peroxide to penetrate the pores and attack the bacteria causing the acne. The helps the blemishes to heal faster.

Effective Treatments For Acne Scars

People who suffer from mild or even moderate acne will usually recover without any serious scars. In severe cases however, scarring is almost an inevitable problem. Don’t lose hope – new treatments can help to minimize scarring and there are new techniques that can even remove existing scars.
Pimples will often leave behind a patch of discolored skin. This discoloration isn’t actually a scar – it usually clears up within a few months. Marks that remain for more than a year are considered to be scars.
The healing process can sometimes be accelerated by using medications like Retin-A, Renova and Alpha-Hydroxy. Sunshine can lead to further skin damage so always be sure to wear sunscreen when you are exposed to the sun for any length of time.
How To Prevent Scars
Scarring can be prevented with active treatment and self control. One of the most common things to lead to scarring is picking or squeezing acne. People often squeeze pimples, but this is one of the worst things they can do. This can cause skin damage which can lead to scarring, plus it can cause the bacteria that causes acne to spread, making the condition worse.
You also need to avoid picking scabs that form over acne lesions. These scabs are a part of the healing process and if they’re picked off, it exposes the skin underneath which can lead to it not healing properly and scarring.
How to Treat Scars
Acne scars can be treated in a number of different ways. If the scarring is not too severe, a chemical peel may be an effective treatment. This will remove the top layer of skin and allow the cells beneath to rejuvenate themselves.
Severe cases of scarring can be treated with lasers or dermabrasion techniques. Lasers will remove the damaged layer of skin and tighten the underlying skin, raising the depression that the scar has caused.
Dermabrasion gets rid of scars by literally scraping away the surface of the skin where the scarring occurred. A new layer of skin is formed during healing, replacing the layer that was removed.
Top 5 Myths About Acne
August 25, 2008 by Nathan James
We have learned a great deal about acne and its causes over the last several years, but many of the myths surrounding it continue to be held as truth.
The following are five of the most common myths about acne:
1. Acne is a result of poor hygiene
Skin infections are often associated with acne, which may be part of the reason for this myth’s existence. Because the combination of sebum and dead skin cells – which leads to acne breakouts – occur under the surfact of the skin they can’t be washed away.
2. Eating certain foods will cause acne
Eating greasy foods and chocolate have long been believed to lead to acne, however there’s no proof of this fact. These foods aren’t healthy though, and they can lead to other health issues which can further aggravate an existing acne problem.
Having said that, there are some foods that can aggravate acne if it is already present. These include milk and foods with a high level of iodine, such as seafood. It’s a good idea to take these in moderation if you’re suffering from acne.
3. You have to let acne run its course
Many people believe the only way to deal with acne is to allow it to run its course. While this may have been true at one time, it isn’t any longer. There are many effective treatments for acne, and if you are dealing with it you should speak to a dermatologist to get more information about treatments that may be effective for you.
4. Acne is a teenage condition
While most teenagers deal with acne to some degree, it is by no means limited to them. Most people’s acne clears up by the time they reach their 20′s, but there are others who continue to have problems in adulthood. Some people even experience it for the first time in their 30′s and 40′s.
5. Sun is good for acne
Increased exposure to the sun is not a good way to deal with acne. It can cause excess oils in the skin to dry out so it may have short-term benefits, but your skin quickly adapts to the change, negating any benefit. Plus, the sun can cause serious long-term skin damage and possibly lead to skin cancer, so the risks far outweigh the benefits.
What Kinds of Acne Medications Are Available?

Are you one of the many people who unfortunately is affected by acne? If so, you are probably looking for a way to treat it. Medications can be very effective in treating acne- we’ll discuss some of the prescription treatments which are available for use.
There are in fact a wide variety of prescription acne treatments which are available either through your dermatologist or doctor and they include both topical and oral acne medications which are then subdivided down as follows:-
Topical Antimicrobials Topical Retinoids Oral Antibiotics Oral Contraceptives
One such topical antimicrobial medication is Clindamycin and is the most widely used and is used to treat mild to severe cases of acne as it helps to minimize and eliminate the papules and pustules that are associated with acne.
Tretinoin is the name of a topical retinoid medication. It is commonly used to treat mild to severe inflammatory acne by unclogging skin pores. It prevents both whiteheads and blackheads. Unfortunately, this medication can irritate the skin and cause increased sensitivity to the sun. If using topical retinoids, is important to follow advice from your doctor and protect yourself from the sun. This type of medication is derived from Vitamin A.
The most severe cases of acne (and sometimes moderate cases) are treated by oral antibiotics. They are designed to decrease inflammation and acne bacteria. Always use antibiotics as directed by your doctor, and use caution to avoid the risk of the bacteria becoming resistant to the antibiotics.
Another option for women which can be effective is oral contraceptives. The benefit to these is that they can be used for long-term acne management. Oral contraceptives suppress overactive sebaceous glands which are responsible for oil secretions. There are potential health risks associated from taking oral contraceptives long term however- such as strokes, blood clots or even heart attacks. If you smoke and take oral contraceptives, the health risks are even greater.
Is is very important because of the reasons discussed to talk to your doctor when deciding to take any acne medication. Your doctor will be able to diagnose your acne properly, and suggest the best medication to work for treating you.
