Do You Think Make Up Cosmetics Are Connected to Acne?

It could be that your temporary solution to dealing with your acne may be part of your problem. Dermatologists and cosmetologists have debated the issue of cosmetics affects on the skin, especially on those who suffer from acne.

For people who suffer from acne, the use of make-up is like a “Catch-22.” You use cosmetics to hide the redness caused by acne, but you might actually be making the problem to worsen. In order to more fully understand, we need to probe “cosmetic acne” a little more.

Acne that is formed due to the use of cosmetics is called Acne cosmetica. It is a relatively common, mild type of acne. There is no age bar for this acne and affects anybody. Even those people who usually do not get acne are said to get acne cosmetica, since this form of acne is caused by topical products instead of the intricate methods that triggers real acne.

The characteristics of Acne cosmetica are small, rash bumps on the checks, forehead and skin. Typically, it develops over the course of a few weeks or even months. This type of acne may persist indefinitely.

If you have recently bought a new product for your skin, you may have noticed some of the symptoms associated with this type of acne. In that case, you should stop using the product for a few days to see if the problem clears up.

It is important to note that studies have shown that make-up is not the cause of true acne. However, it can aggravate the condition. It is advised that one is aware of the common topical triggers in both forms of acne.

Anyone who applies make-up will know that as the day goes by, it vanishes. Have you ever wondered where it goes? Occasionally it is wiped off by clothing and by hands which touches the face. At times it moves around your skin and seeps into the minute openings in your skin similar to rainwater forming mud puddles.

Some brands of cosmetics contain comedogenic ingredients, which are ones that are more likely to clog pores. While these substances may not actually plug up the follicles, they can be a source of irritation that ultimately results in the bumpy rash known as “cosmetic acne.

3 Things You Must Avoid If You Want Real Acne Relief

Acne is problem that many people face it can be any thing like mine, every time it seems like you might win the battle against acne and pimples.

You would have tried many things to avoid this acne, but here is simple three part process to over come with this problem.

Taking care about the skin is the major factor these days, so take care of your skin these three are important aspects that you need to focus on.

1. Avoiding Dehydration is must

You need to take lots of water because it is most important thing to get rid of dehydration, especially if you want clear skin! By drinking lots of water will certainly help you and get beautiful skin. This is the simplest tip and easy to follow. Most important factor here is every part of your body needs water to function properly, mainly your kidneys which will remove excess wastes from your body. If toxins are not flushed out, they can lead to embarrassing and unsightly acne.

2. Best Process to Avoid “One Size Fits All” Acne Prevention Plans

Every person?s skin is different, so every person?s acne prevention plan will be a little different too. Picking a product to help prevent acne can seem completely overwhelming when you are standing in the drugstore aisle confronted with hundreds of bottles, but it’s not so hard.

If you have lots of white and black patches on your face then you need to clear out those pores. And to overcome from these problems you need a product to kill the bacteria infecting your pores.

So, it is very important for you to look carefully at your skin to figure out what actually the problem is. Then read the product labels to make sure they’re a good fit. This way you can plan for acne prevention. Vital point: You should apply the product blindly; this may cause further damage your skin. Because these products contain the harmful chemicals which may effect your skin, so it good for you to look carefully at your skin to know what actually the problem is and then you need to take the further steps.

3 – Don’t ignore your pimples without treatment

At times even the best of skin care regimens will allow the pimples. And it is important for you to remember that when pimple appears you overcome with it if you treat it properly.

First assess whether or not you can drain it. If it is near the surface of the skin and can be drained easily, go ahead. But if it is deep under your skin, don’t drain! It will only tear your skin and irritate it, making it more prone to infection and further pimples.

After you have decided whether or not you can drain, wash and dry the area. Then treat with a cream that will help dry it out. There are many of these available, just follow the directions carefully.

A final option is to use a cream that will help heal what is left of the pimple to prevent scarring. Neosporin works well for this, but use it sparingly as it is thick and oily and may clog pores!

The Connection between Shaving Bumps and the Breakout of Acne

August 27, 2008 by Philip McDonald

Pseudofolliculitis barbae is the acne-like breakouts which are commonly called “shaving bumps”. This happens as an outcome of inflammation in the hair follicle which is caused by shaving. After you shave, wax or pluck, hair gets caught within the follicle. As a result of this you will feel irritation and swelling.

Anybody can catch shaving bumps, but it is more frequently found in people with curly hair. Luckily these “shaving bumps” can be prevented and if you follow certain easy steps, then you can become skilled at how to shave smartly and have less number of breakouts.

Before starting to shave, it is essential to prepare the skin by washing it with lukewarm water. The water will help to hydrate your skin making it suppler and the warm water will expand your blood vessels and this will bring more blood flow to that part. Several people have found that when they shave in the shower, this kind of acne breakout is less.

You can help diminish Pseudofolliculitis barbae by using the right shaving cream. Filmy or thinner type shaving creams can help the razor glide over the skin with ease, therefore reducing irritation.

It is also vital that you choose a good razor. Electric razors are the best. Although your shave may not be as close, irritation will definitely be reduced. If you insist on using a blade, make sure to use a single blade and replace it every time. Razors with double or triple blades actually lift the hair from the follicle, causing a shave that is below your epidermis. To counteract this, your skin covers the follicle opening as a healing process. This causes irritation when the hair begins to grow back and tries to force its way through the skin that has covered the opening of the follicle.

Shaving with the grain is another way to reduce inflammation. This is applicable for both men and women. While shaving always shave down, and not up. If you carry out your shaving in this manner, it will cut down on irritation and may possibly help in reducing scratches and cuts. Always bear in mind the fact that closer you shave, there is more chance of getting shaving bumps.

To condition your skin after shaving, apply an antibacterial gel or alcohol-free toner. There are also gels made with benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid. Any of these will help destroy any bacteria before it can enter into open follicles. This will go a long way in preventing Pseudofolliculitis barbae before it can start.

Performing these steps can definitely help prevent the formation of Pseudofolliculitis barbae in most people. If they do not work and you are still getting shaving bumps, talk to a dermatologist. He will probably be able to recommend more aggressive treatment.

Acne: Q&A That Dealing With Acne

Acne is most common skin problem during adolescence, affecting more than 85% of teenagers, and frequently continues into adulthood. For most people, they have had to deal with acne at some point. There is, however, no way to predict how long it will take to cure it entirely, and some individuals will continue to suffer well into their thirties, forties and beyond. Below, are some questions and answers about acne. Our goal is that you will gain a better understanding of why people get acne and what they can do for treatment and prevention.

Can acne be more serious than simply a cosmetic issue? Many people ask this question. Perhaps you are wondering if acne has ever gotten so bad for someone that it turned into something worse. The answer is “yes”. Though acne is a larger health issue for only some people, it is still worth noting the development of the skin irritation into something more troublesome. In some cases, acne leads to the scarring of the skin or the outbreak of a serious infection. This form of acne is known as cystic acne. Much like its name applies, cystic acne results in a large bump or cyst. Once a cyst heals, it may leave an obvious scar. It should be noted, however, that cystic acne is rare. If you believe that your acne is turning into something more serious than the usual skin irritation, consult a doctor.

How long will acne last? The good news is that for most people, acne is a somewhat temporary situation. Ask any teenager about acne, however, and he or she will likely tell you that a fear is being destined to a life of acne. Such is the sense of despair and embarrassment caused by acne. These teens will be glad to know that most will stop developing acne as they near their twenties, if not sooner. They can also rest assured that in most cases, the effects of acne are much less harsh as people exit their teen years. Unfortunately for some, acne can linger for many years after puberty. Some adults experience severe cases of acne or notice occasional outbreaks as they near their thirties and beyond. In some extremely rare cases, individuals who have never had acne develop it in their later years.

What are the mental effects of acne? Acne may show a body’s failure to properly deal with hormonal changes. Acne can indicate that a person is not dealing with stress effectively. It may be evidence of a potentially serious allergic reaction to a medication or other element. It is not these effects of acne that tend to do the most damage, though. More than a health issue, acne is known causing people (mainly teens) a sense of shame and embarrassment. Acne is falsely associated with being unclean. Clear, healthy skin is associated with cleanliness, while severe forms of acne are often believed to be the result of sanitary neglect. Not only that, acne can be ugly and turn people away. Most people who experience severe acne are emotionally scarred by the social rejection, leading to adolescent emotional insecurity and a sense of self-doubt. Because of this, acne should be treated as quickly and as thoroughly as possible.

Isn’t it true that staying clean helps prevent acne? It is always better to rid your skin of toxins and dirt that accumulate during your normal routine. So yes, to some extent, it is true that washing skin can help prevent or decrease acne. Acne is a chemical matter, and it is something that occurs beneath the surface of the skin more so than on the skin itself. Both daily cleansing and care of one’s skin will help reduce the bacteria that rests on the skin, but they cannot lessen the testosterone levels beneath the surface of the skin that help produce acne. Understanding this basic fact should help reduce some of the stigma attached to acne. It should also allow people who suffer from acne to take some comfort in knowing that they are not necessarily less clean than others. The truth is that they have very little control over what is going on beneath their skin.

What are some of the other factors that increase the likelihood of getting acne? That is a good question, and one that is probably on everyones mind. The tough part about acne is that there is not one single thing that can cause it. Several factors help cause acne. Some of them can be avoided, while others cannot. For example, one cannot change family history, but this is one very important factor in determining the development of some form of acne. Hormonal activity is another. Women who are pregnant or who are menstruating have been known to suddenly develop bad cases of acne. Other factors, such as stress and certain medications, can also bring about acne. Remember: acne is based on the hormonal changes that take place within the body. Any life-changing or stress-inducing event is likely to alter a person’s chemical makeup. Finally, the accumulation of dead skin cells often contributes to increased acne.
